McDonald in Liverpool
« on: Friday 12 March 04 21:00 GMT (UK) »

Hi, I'm looking for information on John Christopher McDonald who was born in Liverpool c1850-3. I know nothing more about him until his marriage in Chatham in 1886 which lists his father as Christopher McDonald who was a shoemaker. Any information on either of these and their family would be much appreciated. Thanks, Stiofan

Stiofan

Have you tried your local LDS Family History Centre?  They would probably be able to help you.

Hi, Chatham is in Kent, Medway area. John McDonald was in the Army Medical Corps and based at Fort Pitt there at the time of his marriage in 1886. His father is not listed as dead on the certificate but I have been unable to trace either on 1881 census. Stiofan

I must admit it is a tough one !!!!

Here are my thoughts.....Is there a chance they could be Irish  Huh  as it could explain why they are missing from the 1881 Census.

Do you know of any other siblings or relatives ?

Who were the Witnesses at the Wedding, could they be related ?

John McDonald was my ggrandfather. Always thought he was Irish but 1891 & 1901 census list him as born in Liverpool. His father, Christopher, probably was Irish. Know of no other family and witnesses at wedding were my ggrandmother's family. Stiofan

Thanks for that Chris but don't think that fits in anywhere. All the best, Stiofan
