Can you do a look-up for me please. I have William Sturges-Wildman b.27/2/1821 at Lidlington to Mary Wildman b.1799. Not sure what you can look up, but is it possible to know where Mary was living in Lidlington at the time of William's birth or who his father was?

As Val suggests, the Beds Archives will have the baptism records for 1821 on microfiche, as a one off request they most likely will look it up & email the info back. However the baptism record won't have an address, just the parish they lived in. It may name the father, but most likely not, it could well say 'illegitimate'.
As to the father, in cases like this the child is often baptised with the father's surname as a middle name. So we're looking for a Mr Sturgess, possibly William Sturgess, could it be the one chr 1799 in Barton perhaps. Just speculation on my part.
Regards John

That is my thought too John, but it is trying to prove that William Sturges is the father. I just wondered if there were any records that could prove this for me.

I am sure that the father's name is William Sturges and I would like to follow this line on my research, if I can prove it. I think Mary's father's name was John Wildman married to Catherine Marrison. Would the Archives office have a Bastardly order which should have the father's name on?

Details of many Beds Bastardy Orders/Recognisances can be found on A2A on http://www.a2a.org.uk/default.asp or on the Bedford Archives site at http://blars.adlibsoft.com/
You could also order the microfilm of Lidlington parish records, which includes some parish chest entries, from the LDS. 1821 doesn't seem to be covered according to the film notes, but you never know, as orders sometimes seem to be filmed even though they're not mentioned in the notes.
Mary seems to have giving a pretty firm indication that the father was Sturges. I'm not so certain that his first name was necessarily William though.
Regards
David

Thanks for that. I am new to this and have managed to get into the sites but cant find the Bastardly records. If I can get into it, it will help me a lot as I have two to look up for 1821 in Bedfordshire.

There isn't a specific area for bastardy on either site. Just put in a name eg Wildman and check out all the hits. You might get lucky, but only a smallish percentage of the records are indexed online so it might take a trip to Bedford to see what else they've got - or as I suggested get a copy of the microfilm at your nearest Family History Centre of the LDS

That would be useful if you could look it up for me please. I have found some information out from that website and emailed Archives, who have given me a bit more information but they want £26 for a transcript. When you are looking, could you also look for Frances Turner of Kempston, who had John in 1821. The baptism records show the father as William Tompkins. This is the same year as William Sturges-Wildman so the records should be near to one another.

If you check the A2A site that I gave you, type in Frances Turner in the keyword box, and highlight Bedford and Luton Archives etc in the Location of Archives dropdown, the first hit is the one you're looking for
Quarter Sessions Rolls - ref. QSR -1821[no date] ref. QSR/25/1821/165 [n.d.] Recognizances: William Tompkins, jun., Kempston, labourer; bastardy. FRANCES TURNER
The actual item doesn't give any more information than what is shown above, or so BLARS told me when I was looking to get a copy of one in my own family.
It seems as though Frances spread her favours around as the other hit is Quarter Sessions Rolls - ref. QSR 1824 [no date] ref. QSR/26/1824/184 [n.d.] Recognizances: Oliver Leech, junr., Kempston, labr; bastardy. W. FRANCES TURNER.
