SMITH!!! Help needed the name says it all!!
« on: Friday 15 June 07 12:26 BST (UK) »

Hi im trying to trace the family of my great grandfather Charles Sidney Smith. He was born 26 sept 1906 in Grantham Lincolnshire and died her in Lince in 1999. His parents were John William Smith and a Maria Johnson  ( they did get married and were at the time of his birth).
I have tried to fond them on the census as a couple with no luck or it could maybe a case of looking to hard and missing the obvious!  I havw asked family members but they know nothing about the mother just the name of his father and thats it soits a dead end from here really. If anyone could help me with this search i would be very greatful!  The info stated above is from his birth cert that i had ordered.
Many thanks in advace Heather  Smiley

You say they were married - have you worked back from his birth looking for the marriage ?

The Marriage Cert could reveal John William's fathers name - and more opportunity to search the census years ....

What occupation did John William give on Charles' Birth Cert ?

1871 reveals the bigger Smith family - but you need to draw your own conclusions about John's parents ....
