Hi all, does anyone happen to wander through Fauldhouse cemetery? I have an ancestor Andrew Wark d. 28/2/1880 who died (and possibly buried) in Fauldhouse and was hoping to locate his gravestone.
His daughter Christina (b. 23/12/1860 in East Benhar) was my great grandmother and emigrated to Australia. For some reason she gave her maiden name as Hazelmere (which baffled me for a while as there were noe in Scotland anywhere). She was apparently very eccentric and described as a 'real card' buy someone who knew her.
I post this as Fauldhouse is a tad inconvenient for me to get to from Sydney currently....

The Burial Register CD compiled and published by West Lothian Family History Society (www.wlfhs.org.uk) confirms that Andrew Wark wasn't buried in Fauldhouse Cemetery in 1880. The Cemetery was only opened in 1878 and Whitburn, opened in 1862, looks a better bet.
There was indeed an interment for an Andrew Wark - three of them actually. They were:
Andrew Wark - age not recorded - no date for interment but year given as 1880 and the funeral came from East Benhar - lair P-32. There were no further burials in the lair up to 1975.
The others were:
Andrew Wark - age 80 - interred 8Mar1924 - lair H-180. Also in the lair is John Wark - age 84 - interred 27Nov1953 and the funeral came from 2 Beechwood Cottages, East Whitburn.
Andrew Wark - age 76 - interred 19Jan1944 - lair H-179 and the funeral came from East Whitburn. Also in the lair was Christina Wark - age 69 - interred 21May1941 and the funeral came from Blackburn.
Hope this helps.

Wow, thanks for that - the first one looks spot on. I guess interment but nothing else means no gravestone (?) Thanks for this - haven't done much genealogy lately but this may start me off again.... cheers Cas

Hi Mr-Aitch
I've had a look on the WLFHS site and can't find the burial register CD you refer to. I would like to purchase this. Can you give me a clue as to where to find it?
Jean
