READ M.I.s at Salisbury Cathedral
« on: Thursday 19 October 06 12:12 BST (UK) »

Hi,

Some of my READ ancestors have some kind of memorial inscriptions in Salisbury Cathedral - they lived at The Close for over 30 years. If anyone happens to be visiting there with a digital camera at any time I'd be really interested to see what they say etc.

The people remembered are..

David Charles Read, landscape painter/engraver died 1851
his wife Charlotte
and son Raphael Woolman Read d.1886

I know it's a long shot, but you never know  Wink

David charles Read was my mothers great great grandfather. He is Buried in Boldre cemetary. You can see his work in the Ashmolean museum in oxford if you make an appointment in the print room. I would be very interested if you knew the name of his father. There is  a biography of David Charles Read in the Oxford  National Biography Dictionary. I have a  public family tree on www.ancestry .com. I would be very interested to know where your side of the family fits in. I cannot go back further than David Charles without going to Winchester to search the baptism records for Boldre Church. I hope to hear from you.
