On 14 July 1840 Joshua Turton married Ann Sanders at the Providence Chapel of the Independent Dissenters, Uxbridge. Joshua may have been one of the Turtons from Chilbolton Hampshire and Ann's origins are unknown.
The couple had five known children and one of whom Selina married William Hudson, the son of Richard in the parish Church, Uxbridge on 29 Oct 1860 at the Parish Church Uxbridge.
This couple, together with their children migrated to Australia arriving on, 10 July 1874 on board "Derbyshire" into Brisbane. The ship left London on 3 April 1874. On the passenger list of Free Passangers are William Hudson 33, Selina 30, William 13, Mary Ann 11, Julia 9, Walter 4, and babies Annie 3 and Thomas 2. As well, on board the Derbyshire were George Hudson 24, and his wife Elizabeth 27, with Edward 3 and baby Frank 1 who died on the voyage, and Joseph Hudson 26 , wife Alice 24 and children Caroline 5, George 1 [who died on voyage] and William 16. Whether these other families are related to William remains tobe seen.
The Hudsons, after the marriage of their daughter Mary Ann to William Rich, disappear.
With so many children, someone has to be linked to William and Selina. Where are you?

An explanation for why Richard may not have been with his family on the 1841 census in Maidstone (if that was the right family).
1841 census HO107 490/7 folio 10 Kent County Prison Maidstone Kent Richard Hudson 30 born Kent P(risoner) Ag Labourer
There is a possible death registration for a Richard Hudson in Maidstone which may or may not be the same person. Kent Record Office will have records for the prisoner Richard Hudson on appears on the 1841 census.
Deaths Dec 1846 HUDSON Richard Maidstone 5 275
It is possible there was another child before William.
MARY ANN HUDSON Christening: 31 DEC 1837 Offham, Kent Father: RICHARD HUDSON Mother: MARY ANN
Births Dec 1837 Hudson Mary Ann Malling 5 260
Offham is adjacent to West Malling

http://www.nwkfhs.org.uk/offh_plc.htm The National Archives may have records for the Elthorne Militia which William Hudson joined as evidenced from the 1861 census.
'Attestation papers of Local Militia Regiments, 1769-1854, are in WO 97/1091-1112 , and there are registers of pension payments to Local Militia during the period 1868-1882 in WO 23/89 , WO 23/90 , WO 23/91.'
but this would require a search at The National Archives itself.

The 1841 census entry for the family has already been given you on another Rootschat thread
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,169753.0.html
Though I think it would be unlikely that the William Hudson of Oldham in Lancashire (north west England)who was insolvent in 1836, is the same man as the William Hudson marrying in London (south east England) in the same year. Hudson is not an uncommon English surname so you should expect to find more than one William Hudson in the carpentry trade in the 1830s. There were 8 William Hudsons in Oldham at the time of the 1841 census (85 in Lancashire, 72 in the London area and 1061 in England as a whole).
