Would some SKP lookup 1861/71 Census records for Portsea Island Southampton.

This is information from marriage record that may help.

24/12/1870 The Register Office District Portsea Island Southampton.

Henry Smith 21 Seaman R.N. HMS ASIA
Father Henry Smith Storekeeper.
Ellen Elizabeth Tyer 21 The Hard
Father William Tyer Appraiser

This marriage record may help to find families 1851? 1861 then 1871 after the couple married.

Hi Victoria..this is most probably just coincidence but i have a rellie(Hansler) who was serving on HMS Asia in 1881 who was married to a Charlotte Smith b 1836(m.1861) and one of their children married a Ellen Emily Smith(b.abt 1874) married 7/8/1897 in Portsea although her father was a Edward Smith...just a thought  there might be some sort of link along the line somewhere.
