Birth in SA of British parents.

I am helping someone who is looking for a birth cert of their great gran. She was born in Wellington, South Africa in 1887. Her father was British.
Where would we find a birth reg for a British Citizen born in South Africa? I have heard that the GRO has them...but where?

Do you have her exact birth date and are wanting her birth certificate or do you only have the year and are looking for the exact date? 

I have, with an exact date, ordered unabridged certificates from the Department of Home Affairs which took about six weeks to get.  Is that the information you are looking for?

Perhaps posting her name will also help.  Was her mother British as well?
