L:ooking for information on the parentage of the following:

Alfred Hayden Born in late 1800's in south africa.  His father was born in Ireland and came across to south africa during the potato famine.
Alfred's son was John Henry Hayden B1918, SA and D1949, SA, who married Olga Mary Hawthorne B13-3-1920 SA or Norway (Not sure)  D5-3-1995, Zimbabwe
Any help?

Have you had his Estate File out of the National Archives?  I can see one or two which might be your Alfred Hayden.

It has come to my attention that John Henry Hayden's father was a John Henry Hayden and that his father was an Alfred.
The older John Henry was a conductor of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.  Is there any way to confirm this?
