oxfordshire (Burford) census look-up please

Hi,

my 4th gt grandparents, John and mary Pratt born about 1769, Oxon.
Their daughter my 3rd gt grandmother born in Chadlington Oxon, christened on 15/5/1796, married Joseph Taylor (1795) of Burford Oxon.
Would like to check 1841 census records for John and Mary, for address, ages and other residents on night of the census please or any other information on the couple, I only have their names from the marriage of their daughter.
Also, If possible any information on Josephs parents-the marriage recorded parents as William Taylor born Burford abt 1763 and Mrs William Taylor born Burford abt 1767.

Any help appreciated

Hi Sam ...

The only John PRATT I can find on the 1841 who was born c1769 in Oxfordshire has a wife called Martha (not Mary).  His occupation is given as "P.Clk." (parish clerk?) and they are living in Pyrton.

There are several William TAYLORs on the census, but without knowing his wife's name and/or occupation it's almost impossible to narrow the search.

However ... the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index turned up a couple of things!

This looks like John and Mary PRATT's marriage:

11 SEP 1795 - John PRATT (Chadlington) to Mary CARPENTER at Charlbury

(The previous JP/Mary marriage on the index is in 1779, so I think the above is pretty safe!  There is also a JP/Martha marrriage taking place in Pyrton in 1798, so this would seem to be the couple I found on the 1841 census.)

There were no marriages on the index for a William TAYLOR in Burford before 1795 (although there were a couple taking place in the city of Oxford during the early 1790s).  Again, without a wife's name it is impossible to to know if any of these are the correct one.
