been told my grandmother rosehannah barwood was born in ledbury 1860 but unable to get concrete evidence from BMD at ledbury. would be grateful for any info. been searching for a long time....heber

I had a quick look for a birth and not much to see, I also checked on the 71 census, there is one born in Herefordshire, but living with father and siblings in Llanley,Wales.
I also had a quick look on the site www.familysearch.org and can see a Rose Hannah Barwood, father is William Barwood, which matches the name on the census.
Do you have access to the census at all

On the IGI a birth is given as 27th August 1860, Ledbury and her death as 10th April 1960, in Trevithin Wales, Father William Barwood, mother's surname Oakley.

thanks to everyone who submitted info, I have access to the census records but have not had much luck, the only barwoods i could see were in the norfolk area. I had my info from the IGI, which gave her date of birth, her parents and a few siblings. Marriage cert gives her father as William, a gardener, and when i applied for a birth cert from ledbury, they couldnt help, i am pretty sure of her birth date, because i know she was 6 mths short of 100 when she died. Regarding the IGI, i have a feeling that a older cousin of mine, who many years ago. went to the states and became a mormon, and i have found out, since her death, that she researched her family and probably submitted it to the IGI. . I will cerainly try the herefordshire family society thanks again heber.

There could be Barwoods in the other local Registration Districts, like Bromyard and Malvern, not far away but a different district. I think I spotted one of the Barwoods who had moved to South Wales giving his place of birth as Bosbury.
I think an email or a letter to the Herefordshire Family Histoy Society might unravel the mystery.

There are a number of BArwood families in Monmouthshire, around Trevithen on the 1881 census, giving places of birth as Worcesterhsire and Herefordshire. Also George BArwood gives his place of birth as Ledbury. He is born in 1858. Have you asked for this certificate, and can you identify him as Rose's brother ?

Also Henry Barwood giving a place of birth as Maule Herefordshire in 1860. Need to check the actual census entry to see what this should be. Could it be Malvern ?

marriage cert. details are;; husband, Noah Davies [18] church, llanvihangel and pontymoile, which is on the edge of pontypool. residence at time of marriage,Noah at Snatchwood and rose at "this parish",which would seem, she spent a day or two at the inn next to church [which is the abergavenny side of pontypool.]. Noahs father,s name Isaac and Rose,s father William. witnesses; Lydia Barwood[nee davies], Noah,s sister and her husband Thomas, these Barwoods are from Trevethin, and i have seen these on census..also the church is near Pontypool Road station [which serves abergavenny hereford and the north] and one other thing, my eldest aunt [1879 ??] was born in herefordshire [out of wedlock] the date of marriage was 1st november 1879...heber
