Further to the previous post, Cheshire Tithe maps have been digitised and are searchable online now at this link: http://maps.cheshire.gov.uk/tithemaps/

This is a fantastic resource.  You can search by surname of owner or tenant, by placename etc.  - try the advanced search.

You can also show side by side maps of the 1836 tithe maps against OS maps from various dates including now!  You can also overlay colour coding for owners and for usage of the land.

It's not complete but it's being updated on an ongoing basis, and some of the areas I'm looking at (Runcorn, Frodsham etc) are already there.  Hours of fun for the easily distracted, and great to get absolute confirmation of the exact location of my ancestors houses.
