1841/1851 census look up please-Jervis

Hi.

I am searching for Aaron Jervis born 1785 at Wombridge. In 1861 he is a widower living on Parish Relief at Watling St. Wellington with his widowed daughter Emma Clay b. 1822 Wellington.

I carnt see them on the 1851 even on Watling Street Wellington, There are a few houses that were empty at the time so they might have been away. Unless anyone else can see them

Found them on 1851 under surname Pritchard!!!!

Parish: Hadley, village: HuhHuh?brook

Aaron Pritchard, Head, 65,  Married, pauper coal miner  b W'ombridge
Mary, wife, 53,    b.Wellington
Moses, son, 21, Unm,  Coal Miner,  b. Wombridge
Rosannah, dau, 20,  Unm, Pit Woman,  b. Wombridge
Ann, Grand dau, 2,   b. Wellington

Interesting:  entry before the Pritchards is a Sarah Jarvis (widow aged 31)  with daugher Louisa, aged 11!!

Thank you so much. That certainly seems it could  be them.  I wonder why they were transcribed as Pritchard instead of Jarvis/Jervis, I guess we will never know.

I have had a look on the I.G.I. and have found that there was a Aaron Pritchard c. 1790 at Wombridge his parents were James Pritchard & Ann Jervis it seems there must be some connection between these to Surnames.

I could not find a c. for Aaron Jarvis/Jervis on the I.G.I. and so I am beginning to think they have using both surnames.

As we have Aaron Jarvis at Watling St in 1841 I am wondering if someone could have a look on the 1841 just to see if there is any sign of an Aaron Pritchard.

Thank you.  That's a Pritchard and Jervis together again. I can't tell really if that is the Mary Pritchard from the 1851 census or not it could be but I wonder where her husband Aaron was and thinking about it non of their children are on the 1841 with her so maybe it's not the right one.

Hi Ricky.

Thank you for taking the trouble to make the search for me.  It is a mystery, I think that Aaron Pritchard and Aaron Jarvis must be the same person.  I am going to be wondering now why he felt the need to change his and the rest of his family's name on the 1851 census and then back to Jarvis on the 1861, oh well.  Thanks again.
