Raven Family, Woodhurst pre 1841
« on: Tuesday 05 June 07 18:00 BST (UK) »

In 1841/51 I have Jasper Raven b. c1799 Bluntisham? married to Elizabeth b. c1809 Nedingworth.

Children in 1841 - Jane 9, William 8, Eliza 4, Ann 2 and Elizabeth/Betsy 3mo
Extra Children in 1851 - Emma 8, Steven 5, James 3 and Mary Ann 8mo

Cant find birth/marriage of Jasper or christenings of any of the children. Any help appreciated, never had to look in that part of the country before.

Thanks

Jasper Raven married Elizabeth Tabbet of Holywell at Woodhurst in 1831, per Hunts Marriage Index

I'll see what else I can find in the morning

Apologies for the delay. Internet went down on Wednesday a.m., and I only got it back again this afternoon.

As you've found, Hunts is not well covered on the IGI (the LDS was refused permission to film many of the parishes), but the BVRI does contain a few more parishes.

The only baptism I can find though is that of Jane Raven at Holywell cum Needingworth on 23 July 1832, dau of Jasper & Elizabeth

Whilst there are other Tabbets in Holywell cum Needingworth, there's no Elizabeth baptised c 1809 (there is a John bap 20 Nov 1808 son of William & Ann but this is the only baptism on the BVRI between 1790 and 1836, although I see Holywell is also extracted onto the IGI)

Unfortunately Woodhurst is one of the many parishes which has not been filmed by the LDS; nor is a transcript available from Hunts FHS.  Huntingdon Records office is the only place to view the register, although they run a good research research, which is quite reasonably priced, if you can't get to Huntingdon.

A Jasper Raven age 57 was buried at Woodhurst on 6 March 1855, and a MaryAnn Raven age 2 was also buried at Woodhurst on 13 Aug 1837

Thank you for your help David, very much appreciated,  Smiley

(this is my husbands side of the family and is he in the slightest bit interested? No! I console myself that I'm doing it for my daughter who hopefully will be fascinated by it, although shes only 4 now so I might have a long wait!)  Smiley

Best Wishes
