Trystan
For the life of me I cannot get this PhpGedView program to work.
I have followed the 'quick installation'. I have uploaded the php into the FTP file manager. I have uploaded my gedcom into FTP file manager.
Set write permissions ? where and the hell do find the numbers for this? I had a bit of a go but got lost.
The instructions also says: "point your browser to the directory where you uploaded your PhpGedView files (http://www.yourserver.com/phpGedView/)". Well I did that and I get the Rootschat home page.
What am I doing wrong?

Ok - you're almost there.
Yes, you need to set "write permissions" for the folder called index and a file called Config.php. Usually on many FTP programs if you click on the file that you want permissions setting, then right-click, it may justbring up the option to change permissions.
You may end up with tick boxes like this (tick them all to give "full 777 permissions"): r r r w w w x x x ("r" is read, "w" is write, "x" is execute (run) )
If you go to "index.php" of your webspace after you have set the permissions, then phpGedview will fire up, and you can then "confiure" it then.
If you struggle with the permissions then I can set them for you, but if you find how to do it yourself I'm sure you'll be pleased!

Thanks Trystan I have it up BUT how do you change the theme? I have a green one at the moment and it is too green. I want to change it.
I appreciate your assistance.
