Hunts parish marriage
« on: Sunday 08 July 07 04:50 BST (UK) »

Hi

I have a marriage for Joseph Britten and Mary Thompson dated 14 Oct 1816
Is anyone able to look this up for me
I am hoping to get a Father's name from them both.

Thanks

But which Hunts parish? You haven't included this vital piece of information!

I've found it in Hunts Marriage Index - Ramsey. Both otp. It's also on the IGI as a member submission which is presumably where you got the date from.

You only get fathers' names from 1837 onwards with the introduction of civil registration. Prior to that the parish register just has the names of the two witnesses, who were not usually the fathers.

In 1861 Joseph was 66 birthplace Hartford, Hunts and Mary 64 birthplace Ramsey.

I would change the subject line to Ramsey parish marriage - someone with the Ramsey transcript is more likely to have their attention attracted
