Looking for Albert Austin Saunders born in 1874 married to Edith Agnes Waterton in 1898.
Also his wife Edith Agnes Waterton. I have found her in the census living with Samuel and Frances, yet on her marriage certificate it says her father was Josiah?   Can anyone help? Undecided

They lived in Islington London in the 1901 census. It says that Albert was born in Croydon Surrey, and Edith was born in Bromley Kent.
I have a possible Albert in the 1881 census living with a father William and mother Caroline.  I can not find William and Caroline in the 1871 or 1861.
I also can not find a Albert Austin Saunders in the BMD index.

Any suggestions.

There is an Albert Saunders born Apr-May-Jun 1874 in Barnet district (which according to the 1891 census Croydon also falls in).

Hi Frankle

What does it say for Albert's father ie. name & occupation on his marriage certificate?  Is there any address for Albert and who were the witnesses?

Am pondering over the birth registration of an Albert Austin WILLIAMS in the Croydon registration district in the September quarter 1873 ref. 2a 210 but, of course, it may be nothing Undecided

What does the full 1891 census entry that you found say Spongebob?

Thank you Ediths details. I have that already although she is a bit difficult also, as she disappeard in a couple of the census records, I think I found her as Edith Walerton living with Seymour Shepherd Circus proprietor in one census.
Any way on their marriage certificate 1898 Middlesex, They were married on 25th December Albert was 25 a Bachelor, occ Labourer liviang at 25 Blundell Street. Father William Saunders Labourer.   Edith was 20 a spinster also living at 25 Blundell Street father Josiah? occ Labourer.  Their witnesses were Harry Miles? and Kate Waterton  (think she was sister to Edith)

Anyway, looks like Edith ran away with the circus at about age 11, and after she was married their children were looked after by one of her sisters.   Nothing else known about the pair.

Any idea where to look next?

That could well be it then - WILLIAMS see 1881 census RG11/813 folio 139 page 66 - Grant Road, Croydon:

Caroline WILLIAMS 34 b.Normandy? France
Albert WILLIAMS 7 b.Croydon
boarders living with a HERITAGE family.

This could well tie in with the Albert Austin WILLIAMS birth registration that I mentioned previously.

There is a marriage Oct/No/Dec 1884 , in Croydon area, for a William Saunders, also on the page is a Caroline Saunders.
Possible, if they were already together and she was known as Saunders rather than Williams by then.

Hi Sandra

What does the 1891 census say ie. where exactly were they, age of "Caroline" and age & birthplace for William?
