I am looking for a baptism of George BULPIT possibly in Hampstead Marshall in 1826. I'm trying to prove his parents are John BULPIT and Ann. Athough the I.G.I. entry apecifies his mother asa Eliza I'm trying to prove that she isnt.

This is from the Vital Records Index so this is what is on the christening record
BULPITT George Christening Date 13 Aug 1826 Hampstead Marshall, Berkshire Father John BULPITT Mother Eliza
I assume you are trying to link him to the 1841 census entry for Hampshire - George Bulpit aged 15 agric lab father John (ag lab) & mother Ann both aged 40 - none born in Hampshire
The 1851 has George still living in Hampshire - parents John & ELIZA. All b Berkshire
John Bulpit 49 ag labourer - b Hungerford
Eliza 49 Pembury
George 24 ag lab b Hampstead Marshall
Probably an enumerator error on the 1841

Yes, this George BULPIT is giving me plenty of headaches. The 1841 census entry does throw me a little. The 1861 entry even more.

I'm trying to make this Charles BULPIT as my great grandfather and so I'd like to prove that George is Charles's father but I'm having no joy here at all.
In 1861 I have a George BULPIT running the Red Lion pub in Andover, if the entry I've specified above is his parents - John & Eliza - why is Chalres not with his father?

The Charles Bulpitt on the 1861 was born around 1845/46 so you could check the GRO index/freebmd for his birth and get a copy of his birth cert to establish who his parents are
Also - is he on the 1851?

Hi Carole,
I've don that and there is no baptism / birth certificate etc. for a Charles BULPIT. that's what led me to believe he was born out of wedlock and may have kept his motheres name for the first part of his life. He is nowhere to be seen in 1851 with the surname of BULPIT.

Do you have your Gt Grandfather Charles BULPIT on any later census?

Thanks for your post. I have Charles in :-
1861 Aged 15 in Andover Grandson
1871 Aged 25 in Hurstbourne Tarrant Lodger
1881 Aged 32 in Chute(WIL) Head
1891 Aged 41 in Chute(WIL) Head
1901 Aged 54 in Chute(WIL) Head
All except 1881 (born in Andover) indicate he was born in Hurstbourne. As you can see I never had him with his father (George (or mother). I got his fatherr from his marriage certificate.
