ASHENDEN in Clapham area?
« on: Wednesday 04 July 07 14:20 BST (UK) »

Does anyone have any Ashenden ancestors in the Clapham/Lambeth area?
I have an ELIZABETH ASHENDEN (abt 1760) who married James FAIRBAIRN before 1783.
Their children were all born in Clapham (but not baptised in the Anglican church - although buried there)

I haven't found the marriage yet and only one Ashenden appears in the parish register - back in 1630

I know Kent is an Ashenden stronghold but there must have been some in Surrey.

Any help greatly appreciated.

which shows where Ashenden's were in 1881 and 1994 - certainly spread a bit!

Thanks

The London area is certainly a hot spot. It's a pity they don't do a map for the 1700s, that would pin them down even more.
