Hi,
I am looking for information please about the parents and siblings of Arthur Duck Rossiter born 9 AUG 1852 at Shoreditch Workhouse, Shoreditch.
Mother is believed to be Ellen but I have no details about father.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

The IGI entry shows mothers name only
If there is no fathers name on either his birth certificate or his marriage certificate, he was presumably illegitimate

There is no trace of him on any census. Where does he fit in your family tree as that info may help trace him

Hi Carole,
Thanks for your posts. Apologies for the delay in replying but I was taken into hospital unexpectedly late yesterday evening.
I am doing a one family study of the Rossiter family and have a database of about 19,000 Rossiters and Rossiter related individuals.Because of the size of the project and because of my limited income I am unable to purchase certificates or other aids simply because of the cost.If I had bought certificates for every case I researched @ £7 per certificate the cost would be beyond my means.
I collect my information from a variety of sites ( Familysearch.org/FreeBMD/various regional or county BMD sites/Ancestry/Genforum/Rossiter Genealogy Message Board/ Cousin Connect/ Genes Reunited/ British Genealogy/ Rootsweb Worldconnect/ British Genealogy etc). I also contribute to these forums helping fellow Rossiter researchers where I can.
Some of the information are loose ends in so far as the line has not been pursued back to the point where there are no records to consult. From time to time I check through my database identify loose ends that I want to follow up on and I use the above sites to take each line back as far as I can. When I am stuck I post queries on Rootschat.
Most of the time I get successful replies; other times despite all our efforts it still ends up being a dead end and I just have to accept that for the time being until something new turns up which might be never.I recently posted a couple of cases for the name "Eugenie Rossiter" but wasn't able to pursue it further as they couldn't be found in records. I've had the same problem with names like Aaron Rossiter, Moses Rossiter, Caleb Rossiter etc
Because the Rossiter family is a big one and because the Rossiters recycle the same Christian names it is sometimes necessary to do various posts to identify who belongs to who as it can be the case that Rossiters of the same name & age are born in the same place. Census requests often sort these cases out.
From time to time when I find unusual names e.g. Eugenie, I do general IGI searches to find all the possible cases and check them in my database. Because of my wide sources I usually have most of them. I research the rest through the sources above and the few I can't do anything with I post on Rootschat.
I research worldwide (USA, Canada, Australia/ New Zealand /India etc) so only my unresolved UK queries come to Rootschat. Sometimes in the pursuit of one family a Rootschat posting uncovers another family which I do not have like the Daniel Rossiter and wife Hannah which has been posted. This sparks another query for me.
As for Arthur, I did an IGI search to make sure I had them all.I checked all the cases on the IGI in my database and whittled the shortlist down to about 4 which I could not progress. These are the 4 cases I posted.
I've posted this message as a reply on all 4 threads.
Hope this clarifies the situation and hope you will be able to help.
Best wishes
