Thanks for giving me the sites Janine. Came across T. Stagpoole so "T" wasn't a misprint. Good to clear that up!!.
Interested to hear what you father may know. would be interesting to know father's name.

Hi Tiffany

Thomas Stagpoole is actually Patrick Thomas Stagpoole born in 1868 and married to a Sarah Jane Romeril. Their son was George and their daughter one Lady Sarah Kennedy living in Australia. (from my brother Vaughan stagpoole)

My father ( Victor Stagpoole) thinks he met Patrick Thomas teaching at Hobbsonville School, Auckland during WW2. He thought that George taught at Little River school in the early 40s.

Patrick Thomas would be my fathers great uncle and thus nephew of VC winning Dudley Stagpoole.
George apparently changed his name back to Stacpoole. Here is a link to a picture of him

Oh yeah Patrick Thomas's Father was Bartholomew Stagpoole ( probably actually Stacpoole or Stackpoole). he was an irish soldier who came out to Taranaki during the land wars along with 2 brothers. Bart was my great, great, grandfather.
