I'm wondering if anyone with local knowledge knows of this pub in Chatteris. I have family listed as publican there in the 1861 Census. Also anyone know what the local paper would have been for Chatteris in that time period. I'm interested in James and Jemima Goodale (nee Johnson) from the Wisbeach area, who were in Chatteris in 1861. James disapears in the 1871 Census and Jemima is in Basingstoke Hampshire. The funny thing is she's now married to a Thomas Clarke, but have not been able to find death of James or marriage to Thomas. Lots of details are similar between the two men and I'm wondering if he just changed his name and they moved away, sounds like some sort of mystery here ! Any help appreciated.
