William JAMES « on: Thursday 05 July 07 18:32 BST (UK) »
william james was a shoemaker born around 1820 in Truro. He married in 1841 to a Nanny Farr (although the wedding cert says Parr it is definitely Farr) she dies in 1856 and he marries Eliza Tippet in Q2 1856.She dies Q4 1868 and he marries his housekeeper Jane Vicary in Q1 1881. Trouble is he is missing from the 1891 census and I cant find his death anywhere.

Hi Mongoose2
I see that in 1881 William (b 1820), Jane (b c 1835) and son James aged 8 are living at 5 Palmer crt in Kenwyn.(the next street is Kenwyn Street). The whole family was born in Truro.
In 1891 there are these people...
32 Kenwyn Street, Kenwyn Jane James head widow 57 laundress b 1834 ,Truro Ernest JOHN James son unm 18 engine cleaner b Truro
There is a birth for an Ernest John James March Q 1873, Truro vol 5c pg 161 The only John James in Truro is one b June Q 1877
I think Jane and William's son John may have been Ernest John James.... The birth cert would show proof , of course ....
If this is the correct family then it seems that William James b c 1820 died between 1881-1891. Deb
Hello Barry Have you checked the full death indexes for his death? Free BMD does not have full coverage of the period you are interested in. Barbara

In that case Barry I think you need to consider 2 things Could his death have been registered under a different forename eg was William his second name? Could he have died away from home eg when visiting family? I would check the whereabouts, in the 1881 and 1891 censuses, of his children/siblings and see if that leads anywhere. Barbara
