No Martin baptisms in the Bromley parish registers (which is where you would expect anyone born in the hamlet of Plaistow in Bromley parish baptised if they were Anglican) between 1795 and 1812 when a James Martin was baptised - source BVRI. James had a brother baptised in 1815 called William.

From the North West Kent Family History Society webpage I referenced to
"Bromley is a respectable town in the western division of the county, situated on the Hastings line of road.... The parish contains also the hamlets of Southborough, Farwig, Plaistow and Widmore, and extends over 4,646 acres, with a population of 4,127 in 1851; ...'
Plaistow then Essex (as in West Ham) is certainly nearer Bromley by Bow now the East End of London but then Middlesex.
Thomas Martin in Eltham Kent on the 1851 census born circa 1808 states his birthplace was Plaistow Kent.

Yep, I think that's right, Valda, the other Plaistow would have been in Middlesex, I think.
