jessops hospital pics
« on: Monday 09 July 07 14:39 BST (UK) »

I was born in Jessops Hospital and my mum always used to show me which room as we went passed on the bus. I always meant to take a picture and then a few months ago I realised that it was two late...as its demolished - i was gutted. So i was looking online and yes theres plenty of pictures but theyre all of the wrong side! I think the name of the raod which my room was one was Broad Lane - it was a 1st floor room on its own like on a bit of a gable end right next to the street with its own veranda typ thing. Huge Victorian window.

If anyone has any photos of this it would be wonderful.

Thanks very mcuh

For anyone who's wondering... this is in Sheffield.

Our daughters were born in the same part of the building, and I don't have any photos either  Sad.  I don't think it had 'Victorian' windows though. I think that part was built between the wars.

The oldest part of the buildng survives. Someone told me the University plan to make it their music department.

BBC South Yorkshire had a lot of photos of Jessops because of its impending demolition.  You should be able to get access to them by BBC site.

Thanks for the suggestion. Some pictures and comments here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/southyorkshire/content/image_galleries/jessops_hospital_old_gallery.shtml, but still no clear pictures of the Broad Lane side. I guess it was just much easier taking pictures in the 'quieter' streets the other side.

You could try posting on the Sheffield Forum site.  Someone may have taken a photo for the same reason you want a photo.
