If the name fits...
« on: Tuesday 10 July 07 09:47 BST (UK) »

Having read through some of the entires on a thread which  brought up the names "Mr Donald Duck" and "Mr Michael Mouse" as real people, I got to thinking about people I've known who had "suitable" sounding names for their circumstances/occupations.

Here's a few of my old schoolteachers for instance:

Mrs Spicer - Domestic Science
Miss Patton - Needlework
Mr Benson (knicknamed "Bunsen") - Chemistry
Mary Stewart (Stuart) - History

Anyone else got some goodies?

Not quite what you mean ... but when I was in infants school (back in the time of Magna Carta or thereabouts) ... we had teachers called Miss Bonnet, Miss Button, and the head-mistress was Miss Boot !

Absolutely true !   (except the bit about Magna Carta)

I had a teacher when I was at secondary school called Sybil Waugh... Shocked

Unfortunately she was an English teacher and not History, otherwise that would have been such an ace joke, but even so - still a cool name...  Grin

I had a teacher with a name that didn't fit with her occupation (so not quite on topic but I can't resist Grin) but memorable all the same - Mrs Piddle.

Back to teachers - at school in the 70s we had a PE teacher called Mr Fit,  and a maths teacher called Miss Sinclear (them were the first calculators you know) - but when the English teacher Miss Bunny got married she stopped putting her name on the classroom door, she married Mr Gents.
