Dear Jackie, Can confirm marriage of William Cartwright & Ann Turner 13/4/1827 witnesses Joseph Cartwright & Rosamund Moor, I think that answers your question, possibly Joseph was Williams brother?

Dear Jackie, Can you work some dates out for these lookups so i can help you, I don't get much time on my visits after I've completed my own work, so some approx dates and places would help,I note you have a Joseph in Whittington, does that mean he may have died in Whittington

Thank you Omskirk for your very kind offer
What I have at the moment is
Joseph Cartwright married Mary Lindley in Whittington 8 Oct 1786 ( I dont know where this Joseph was born or when I'm afraid)
They had the following children all born in Whittington Francis 1787 Paul 1789 William 1791 Peter 1793 Dorothy 1795 Hannah 1797
William then marries a Sarah Dawes in Eckington 13 Jul 1814. Witness Samuel Cartwright
They have children Mary - Jun 1815 Mark - Feb 1817 Elizabeth - Jul 1819 Sarah - Dec 1821.
all baptised in Ridgeway Methodist. William is a sickle maker.
In the 1841 Census William is living with his daughters Elizabeth and Sarah at Old School, Ridgeway Moor. Also living with them is a Rosamund Cartwright. Unfortunatly as you know it doesnt say if William is married to Rosamund.
The 1851 Census doesnt really help as William is visiting relatives but it does say that he is married.
There is then a memorial inscription to William and Rosamund who is described as his wife in 1870 when she dies, at St Johns Methodist Church Ridgeway, which indicates that at some stage they married.
As I say, there is a marriage listed for a William Cartwright to Ann Turner in 1827 which you kindly checked out for me. Which if it is the same William would indicate that first wife Sarah nee Dawes died between 1821 and 1827
I cant find a marriage between William Cartwight and Rosamund but there is a marriage between a Joseph Cartwright and a Rosamund Moor in Jun 1827 in Whittington. Now whether Joseph died and William made Rosamund his 2nd or 3rd wife I'm not sure.
I would like to establish 1) whether Sarah died between 1821 and 1827
2) whether the William who married Ann was the same William and a widower
3) whether if this is the sameWilliam who married Ann, when she died
4) when he married Rosamund and if Rosamund was the widow of Joseph
I hope this makes sense and would be very grateful for anything you can find to assist
Many thanks Jackie

Rosamund Cartwright Wid 54 Monthly Nurse Lincs
1861 census for Ridgeway (Above)
1841 census for Ridgeway This Rosamund is Williams wife, if the relationship was other I would have made a note, these are family groups, but Elizabeth being 20 would make Rosamund only 15 when she was born, so this does suggest that William had been married previously
William Cartright 45 Sicklemaker y Rosamund 35 y Elizabeth 20 Dressmaker y Sarah 15 y John Webster 35 Sicklemaker y Sarah 40 y Edmund 12 y Sarah 10 y Ann 6 y Mark 3 y Annis 2 y
Ridgeway Chapel Memorial inscriptions A124 Sacred to the memory of William Cartwright who departed this life 20/11/1856 aged 65, it is the Lord, let him do what seemeth him good, also rosamond wife of the above named who departed this life 22/9/1870 aged 64 The memory of the just is blessed, also of Sarah daughter of the above William & Sarah Cartwright who died 18/7/1887 aged 65
I think this answers some of your questions, you need to have a better rummage on my website www.ridgeway.org.uk but I'll check on Sarah Dawes/Cartwright
