James Mee - Heanor
« on: Monday 16 July 07 12:24 BST (UK) »

Hi all,

I am trying to find James Mee's baptism, he was born in Heanor in 1813 and married Sarah Howitt in 1832. I have looked on the IGI for his baptism but found no luck there and i have also checked the taghill website, again, no luck.

If anyone could help then please get in touch and let me know. Or, if your a realtion of the Mee family then, again, get in touch.

Thanks,

Hi,
On the 1851 Census James Mee gives his place of birth as Derby, his wife
Sarah gives Heanor Derbyshire.  It is only in the later Census that he also
states Heanor.

There is a Bpt 8.11.1812 St. Werburg,Derby for a James Mee, Parents
Samuel & Annie, listed on IGI.  Siblings James 1807 died 1809, Hannah 1808,
William 1810, James 1812.

Could this be your James?

Hmm... I suppose it could be a good match, it would make sense as to why i cant find him in the Heanor baptisms. He did have a daughter named Hannah, who he could of named after a sister. He died on 9th April 1862 aged 49, which gives his birth year as 1813 but if he hadnt had his birthday that year then it would be.

I will rule out Heanor and the surrounding areas first but if nothing comes to light then i think that is a very good match for James.

Thanks for your help.
