My husband's paternal side are all firmly based in Suffolk, while his Maternal side seem to be Londoners. It was nice having the contrast in my research except now I've found that some of the Londoners were originally from Suffolk! Seems I can't keep away from the place!
ANDREWS - Hollesley AUSTIN - Felixstowe BAKER - Bruisyard, Cransford, Mutford, Alderton BATEMAN - Hadleigh BOWERS - Great Waldingfield, Stradishall BRANTON - Leatheringham GOLDSMITH - Great Glenham GOODWYN - (Married in Sweffling, don't know birthplace) HART - Cransford NAUNTON - Ipswich PAIN - Long Melford PEGG - Sproughton ROWLAND - Great Waldingfield SEAGRAVE - Great Waldingfield SMITH/SMYTH - Sweffling SPARKE - Great Waldingfield THEOBALD - Holbrook, Great Waldingfield TILLETT - Ipswich, Trimley, Walton UNDERWOOD - Hadleigh WILLIAMS - Stowmarket
Would love to hear from anyone with an interest in any of these families. Particularly the BAKER's as this is our family name and is my biggest brickwall!

Bowers first appears in our tree with Sarah BOWERS who married Charles THEOBALD in 1825 in Great Waldingfield. Sarah is my husbands GGGG Grandmother on his mothers side. Sarah is the daughter of James BOWERS and Sarah PAIN. Sarah was born in 1801. I'm afraid I don't know any other BOWERS more recent than my Sarah's nephew's and nieces. I got most if not all of this information from the cosford database website so you can probably track it through better than I. Charles and Sarah THEOBALD's son Henry had a daughter Annie who married John TILLETT in 1889. John and Annie's daughter Charlotte is my husband's great grandmother.
I'd be happy to share what information I have with you if you find there is a connection.

Hi We have a connection, with the Bowers being a fertile lot our families connect in more than one way (deep breath) here goes.
James Bowers b 1775 M Sarah Pain son Peter Bowers b 1811 M Mary Nicholson Son Joshua Bowers b 1836 M Susannah King Son Arthur Charles Bowers M Rosanna Levsey/Bowers Dau Laura Ethel Bowers M Barnard Roper
Their Gdau is my ?th cousin 1 removed
Next
Peter Bowers M Mary Seagrave ( I am now going to follow 2 more sons James & John) James 1775 M Sarah Pain son Henry James b 1799 M Susan Nice dau Susannah Bowers b 1830 M ROBERT BOWERS
Now the 2nd son John
John Bowers b 1767 M Mary Alliston son ROBERT BOWERS b 1825 M Susannah Bowers
yes cousins married. They had a dau Eliza Jane/Rebekka Bowers b1867 she M Harry Ralph. They had a son George Ralph M Olive may Sore. Olive was my G Aunt (my paternal Grandfathers sister))
If I go back far enough my ?th cousin 1 removed is related to my Paternal Grandmother. Although the Bowers are not my direct line of Ancesters they are a part of my family and has led to me being distantly related to friends I have known for many years. Have fun with this. You may add everyone named to your f/tree if you wish as I have not named anyone living. x

It always amazes me how small the world becomes to a genealogist. How strange would it seem to James Bowers and Sarah Pain that in close to 200 years time their descendents would be "talking to one another"! Thanks for the information.

Alison,
I have Baker in my lot.....Walter Herbert Baker b1867 d1916 originally from Deopham Norfolk, moved to Suffolk, then Hampstead, London...from there to Stansfield, Suffolk.
Several children from two marriages, first marriage to Ellenor Snow, second marriage to Charlottie Bantack from Ixworth.
Do these sound like yours?

Afraid not. My Bakers seem to all be born, married and buried in Suffolk. They are mostly in the Bruisyard, Cransford, Mutford area.

Any information is always gratefully received. I haven't forgotten my promise to send you some more detailed information from my research. With Christmas and a 3 year old to run after, computer time is somewhat limited at the moment.
Cheers, Alison

My mother was a Baker and I've recently been following a possible line through Albert Edward Baker (b1871, marr Elizabeth Garside, Newcastle 1896) Albert came from Sweffling, Suffolk. His father was Charles (b1838) who married Maria Woodard (b1842) m 1859. His father was James Baker (b Rendham, b1801) who married Elizabeth Goodwin (b 1799) m 1828, sweffling.
