HANNA family Birkenhead early C20
« on: Wednesday 18 July 07 20:39 UTC (UK) »

Is anyone interested in a Hanna family of Birkenhead.

Welsh born Sarah A Hanna aged 31 in 1901 census wife to Irish born John A  aged 40 who was a jeweller
Their children were  eight year old Gertrude born in Ireland , 10 year old Mary W J born Ireland  and two year old Gerald  A F  born in cheshire.

I am especially interested in tying the relationship of the mother to a schoolmaster in Kidwelly.

Thanks for any help.

Hi nequine

I've just read your message  about John A and Sarah A Hanna and had a look at the 1901 census.
Their son Gerald A.F. was born in Birkenhead Cheshire.

On the 'Cheshire BMD'site there's a birth for Gerald Alexander Fitzjohn Hanna in 1898 in Tranmere which is an area of Birkenhead(and where they were living in 1901)
When you find the birth just click on the reference number for the application form etc.

If you apply for a copy of his birth certificate it would tell you his mother's maiden name. You may then be able to link her to your schoolmaster.

Once you learn her name you would then have both names to apply for a copy of the marriage certificate. - if you knew where they were married.

If they were married in Ireland (Northern or Southern)-or Wales I'm not sure whether the names would be enough  or whether you might need to know the place.

 Here are the links -

http://www.groni.gov.uk/index.htm

If you don't have access to earlier census records I'm sure someone here will help you to trace Sarah if you find out her maiden name.

Hope this helps

Regards

there`s a Margaret Hanna buried  9th january 1638 on CPRDb...the name Hanna/Hannah has about 40 transcriptions for Babtisms/Marriages/Burials...95% at Chester St Marys or Chester St John the Babtist.....worth a look...
go to www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb   ... good luck  ... Wink allan
