Unless someone here has access to those parish records you will have to get the certificates for that information.

Hi Carol Your Ruth links to my Underwoods of Maulden/Pulloxhill/Clophill and Luton. I notice there are 2 Ruth Underwoods born Pulloxhill around the same time the one John found is Abbott by 1881 so not yours. Yours is with grandparents John and Emelia Underwood in 51-71 - John a shoemaker is brother to my ggg grandfather Thomas also a shoemaker. There is a married son George with them on each census (he is also a shoemaker) but no sign of his wife. Do you have all this and were you hoping to establish that George is Ruth's father? If so there is an extracted baptism for her on the IGI
Ruth Underwood baptised Pulloxhill 8 Feb 1846 mother Lydia Underwood
Lydia is John and Emelia's unmarried daughter who is with them in 51

Hello John and Janan
My interest is in the Varney family, I like to have the details of marriages, dates, occ and fathers occ. Seeing Ruths bap of 8.2.1846 only gives mothers name do I assume correctly that Lydia was unmarried?
Thanks for your help
Carol
John, I also have family in Canada if you fancy spending time in a records office there - only joking, have a good holiday.

As John said both Clophill and Flitton are in Ampthill Registration District, not Luton. And Clophill and Flitton marriages up to 1885 have been extracted onto the IGI, and they're not there.
Without knowing which parish in Luton registration district they married in, with so many parishes in that district it's a bit like asking someone to look for a needle in a haystack in Bedford Record Office.
For the 1871 marriage it's probably a case of buying the certificate to get the detail you're seeking.
The 1843 marriage which is on the IGI is different - if all else fails you could always order the microfilm from your nearest LDS Family History centre to get the rest of the information.
Have you found the death of Elizabeth Varney in the GRO indices - available free at http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx
I can't see her on FreeBMD
Regards
David

Hi Carol,
I can get you the marriage of David in 1843 at Clophill next week if you still want it.
The 1871 reg Luton I might have a look at the church's in Luton but other than that a village near Clophill which comes under Luton RD.
Had a look for William and Joseph in 1901.....a blank. Your other two Willm's....one in prison as you know and the other from Wingrave is a milkman in Hornsey? I also cannot find my Gt/Grandfather and Grandfather in 1901.......missed or on the road or not wanting to be found (the most likely scenario).!!
Have a good day at Bucks FHS tomorrow......shall not be there but doing my stint with my FHS.
Susan

From the P/R of St Marys, Clophill.
BANNS
1843
David Varney of Clophill and Elizabeth Keech of Clophill
April 9th, April 16th, April 23
MARRIAGE
9/5/1843 David Varney, ofa, b, Butcher, Clophill, (father Richard Varney, Butcher) married by banns Elizabeth Keech, ofa, s, of (??), (father Joseph Keech, Publican) Witness William Varney(Martha?) Varney
BURIALS
28/5/1853 David Varney, Clophill, inf 27/10/1857 Susannah Varney, Clophill, 2 26/9/1861 Susannah Varney, Clophill, 5 2/11/1865 Elizabeth Varney, Clophill, 44 6/9/1877 David Varney, Clophill, 55
Register so faint as to be indecipherable as to where Elizabeth Keech was resident but perfectly clear in the banns. Writing grim also but looks like ( Martha ) Varney the second witness. Definitely Elizabeth (Keech).
Nothing for the marriage of William and Ruth so maybe a register office or chapel.
Susan
