Looking 'everywhere' for the family

GREENWOODs in Westmoreland
« on: Friday 20 July 07 11:32 UTC (UK) »

Hi folks,

I'm interested in contacting anyone who's got information on any GREENWOOD relatives in these Westmoreland locations;

  • Holmscales in Old Hutton (~1530)
  • Lupton, Kirkby Lonsdale (~1570)
  • Box Tree Farm, Lupton, Kirkby Lonsdale (~1670)
  • Beckside in Lupton, Kirkby Lonsdale (~1690)

There's about 7 generations of Robert GREENWOOD who gradually head South from Holmscales until they arrive in Kentish Town, London in 1830.

Chat soon.

a2a has got several references to Greenwoods of Lupton but from the 18th not 17th century.  Have you already seen these?

I haven't found any references to Greenwoods in Carlisle marriage licences or in protestation oaths.

Hello GreenwoJ,

I have an Isabella Greenwood who married Marke Elwood 18/06/1670 Dufton. I do not know where Isabella was born & have not found her baptism in Dufton. She died 28/8/1706 Dufton.

Hi!

I know that you posted this question over a year ago but I have only just joined RootsChat.....

I am a descendant of all these Robert Greenwoods and have a copy of a Greenwood family tree going back to Robert Greenwood of Holmescales (born c. 1535).  This tree looks as though it was compiled in the 1930s, probably by a son or daughter of Thomas & Harriet Greenwood (nee Summersell).  Do you have a copy of this tree?

Hi folks,

I'm still here and hunting the Greenwoods down!  Grin

I believe I have a copy of the tree you mention, it appears in the back of John Eric Greenwood's book?

Please do get in touch, either via a message on here or via email to 'john(at)devsys,co,uk' - I'm sure you can see what this address is, but I need to try and keep the spammers away  Tongue
