Census Comparisons...

Hi folks...

Could someone please look at the 4 following census for me and give an opinion as to whether you think they relate to the same Maria Abbott.

1871 census Maria Abbott born abt. 1828 Spilsby, Lincolnshire
Class RG10, Piece 3402, Folio 45, Page 15

1881 census Maria Abbott born abt. 1829 Hagg, Lincoln
Class RG11,  Piece 3262, Folio 48, Page 27

1891 census Maria Abbott born abt. 1823 Eddwell (Think it should be Cadwell), Lincolnshire
Class RG12, Piece 2610, Folio 12, Page 3

1901 census Maria Abbott born abt. 1822 Cadwell, Lincolnshire
Class RG13, Piece 3083, Folio 195, Page 2

Many thanks

Hi Arkie,

They do all appear to be similar. It might be a good idea for you to write all the census information out and then you could make comparisons.

The one that does puzzle me is the 1901 with husband Thomas instead of John.

Have you checked for a remarriage for Maria or a death for John?

Kind regards,

Pels  Smiley

Hello Arkie

I agree with Pels the 1871, 1881 & 1891 census appear to be the same family despite the age and place of birth of Maria varying the children's details in all 3 seem to tally.

As for the 1901 census perhaps by the age 84 john has forgotton his name but as Pels suggests I would certainly check to see if he did in fact die and Maria remarried.
