Looking for the parents of John Thomas

Who was born in Oswestry, Shropshire in 1839.  He married Charlotte Joseph b 1840 St Martins, Shropshire.  Married on 27 May 1865.  I am getting very frustrated by not getting any further back.  Can anyone help?

How do you know the marriage date? 

Have you got the marriage certificate?......if so, that would confirm John's father's name.
