1871 Census l/u please - John Merrall *COMPLETED*
« on: Sunday 22 July 07 10:30 BST (UK) »

Hi everyone. Thisi is my first post as a new member. Currently researching Yorkshire based Merrall's.

I'm looking for 1871 census information on "John Merrall" (b. 1866 Keighley). Father was Harry Merrall (b. 1828 Keighley). Also a daughter Mary Jane (b. 1864 Keighley)   Unfortunately John Merrall's father is listed in the census as "Hy" which isn't helping much Smiley

I can find a record of them in the 1881 census but for some reason the trail seems to go cold prior.  Info from 1881 Census is:
Parishes: Keighley
Address: 21 Kensington Street

Hope someone can help.

Cheers,
Graeme

This one might be the winner Ricky. Left it a bit late to check out in-depth as it's bed time in this neck of the woods but see how it goes for a match.  The fact that they're worsted weavers is the most promising aspect as it was the family occupation.

Thanks as well Jane!

Cheers,

I think I'll stick with this one for now. The names and dates are too damn close to be a coincidence.  The father being from Lancashire is the only odd bit I'll have to follow up on.

Thanks again.
