2nd page etc of search results

Hi there

I seem to be having trouble when searching on this site.  If I get more than one page of results I don't appear to be able to click on page 2 or 3 etc and see the additional results.

Help!

When I do a search that has more than one page of results, I cannot getr to anything past page one. I click on the numbers at the top and bottom for following pages, but nothing happens.

I guess I am just being normally daft, but could someone please tell me how to get past page one of search results?

It looks as if it could be an error on the server as the message I get is that page 2 and onwards contain no data.

Well not so much of a server problem, but more of the way we have built up the RootsChat search page it appears. It works fine on some browsers, not on others. It's a problem we are still trying to resolve.

For info

Firefox (v1) pages 2 and beyond  ....... no data on page (error message)
IE (patched SP2) no response
IE unpatched (but secure) no response
opera ..... throws back the search pages beyond 2 with a blank page.

My results:
Firefox 0.93, no problems.
Internet Explorer 6.0, no problems.

I know that certain Advert blockers & popup blockers in Antivirus/Firewall products that have a "proxy" can cause problems.

Switching off my firewall completely ... helps a little with IE unfortunately firefox v1 still throws up blank pages .... although this may be more a browser problem as it has started displaying problems with some other php generated sites.
(and pdf files and ....... why oh why do I like this browser so much  Roll Eyes )

When you say "helps a little with IE" does that mean there is no issue with searches if you switch it off?

I love Firefox - I binned Internet Explorer almost two years ago Smiley

The patched version of IE still balks at page 2  etc there is simply no response the unpatched version seems to be a hit or miss affair with it displaying the results more often than not.

Re Firefox .... I've also been with this browser for some considerable time ... pretty much since the first public beta was available and I do like it. Unfortunately v1 seems to be throwing a few wobblies that earlier versions didn't .... and I also miss the googlebar which is no longer compatible with v1.  Undecided

I only keep the others to test web sites for display.

Latest Update on the search problem

We still havn't fixed the search problem, but we are trying to resolve it.

In the mean time, we've set it so that you get absolutely loads of results on one page (so that there won't be page 2,3,...15 or whatever). This is a "workaround", but it's probably best for you to get the search results in a very long list rather not at all.

It is also well worth scrolling down to the botom on the search form and un-ticking "check all", and then selecting which boards you want your search to take place. This will narrow down the search, make it quicker, and the results will be more manageable.

Once we fix the problem, we can then take it back to results being shown as pages again.
