The divorce index at The National Archives (now on microfilm) so also at the Family Records centre is only for the principal divorce court in London. From 1928 onwards divorces occurred around the country in district registries as well. These are not indexed.

You need to read the National Archives research leaflet on divorce records for further information.

The divorce records themselves 1858-1927 are at the National Archives. After 1927 many were destroyed at the recommendation of Lord Denning. 20% 1928-1937 (which I think are all divorces in the district registries) 1938-1954 nearly 100%.  If you want information about a divorce in this later period it is better to check local newspapers to see if the case was covered by the press.

I had to look into this last year. I found, if my memory serves me, that the FRC has only Indexes of Divorces. The National Archives, Kew, has records with some detail from 1858 to 1937 but only a sampling from 1938 onward [divorce came within the pocket of the working man in 1937].
All decrees from 1937 onward are to be found at The Principal Registry, Family division, 42-49 High Holborn, London WC1V 6NP.
None of these records are on-line and High Holborn offers only searches by staff.
A word of caution - none of these are trial transcripts - just bare facts - the parties, the cause, the date. Cool
