Topic: Help reading 1891 Leighton Buzz. workhouse census please (Read 159 times)

Could someone with better eyesight than I have - and maybe a better magnifying glass too!! - please have a look at the following entry in the 1891 census :
Elizabeth Ann Lancaster Age 36 born abt 1855 Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, England Inmate at Leighton Buzzard Workhouse
She is listed with her children Edith, Harold and Elsie.
In the end column (Deaf and Dumb etc) - there is a word that I cannot read at all - the same word is in the second entry (William Adams).

It says 'Union' - are those kids 2 month old twins - I guess it means they were born in the workhouse !

That was quick! Yes they were twins, but Elsie died age 1 - they were illegitimate, too, as Elizabeth's father died four years earlier...........
Next question - what does "union" mean?
