Name Approximate Date of birth Other Surname(s) District Reference
BULL, Bertha, Daisy -- 1881 -- DORE -- Godshill -- G23/E8
source IOW FHS.

No sign of a FreeBMD GRO entry* tho, and no sign in the 1891 / 1901 census so far ?
* FreeBMD 99% quoted, so Nells find in full Registers...

Her parents seem to have been Thomas Bull and Martha Dore who married in Northwood in 1877.
Daughters Ada Dulcibella born in 1878, Ella Mabel in 1879, son Andrew James in 1883, Herbert Harry in 1885. Can't see any more children after that.

Didn't/Can't check the census - looked at the indexes, including death index. No sign of Bertha dying as a child.

Hello! I just started looking into family history and entered my Grandfather's name and got your post. You mention that your great-grandfather's brother was Ernest. He's my grandfather--RSM Dowsett died in 1968. Bertha Dowsett (nee Bull) died at the age of 100 but I don't remember exactly which year--I think it was 1978, my sister would probably remember so if you still need her date of birth let me know and I'll contact her. By the way, her brother Herbert emigrated to America in 1901 and died in Baltimore in or just after 1968. I'm new at this and don't yet know how to find any reply coming from you (I assume I go to your posts) but I haven't yet been able to go father back in my family's history but I think Ernest's father (your great-great-grandfather) was a blacksmith but not knowing my grandfather's exact birthdate I don't know how to proceed: any help you can give would be a great help! Ernest had 3 children: Leslie (my father born 30/12/09), Vera, and Walter. Ernest had joined the Suffolk regiment at the age of about 8 as a runner and was immediately shipped to India, where he stayed 23 years I believe.
Good luck with your searches and if I can help at all with 20th century info on the family please let me know. HughD
