In the 1901 Census, my grandparents are shown as living in Ainsworth Street, Manchester. However, the district is unclear, either Ardwick or Gorton.  Anybody any ideas, please?
Thanks in advance.

if you tell us your grandparents details then i could look on ancestry for the enumerators notes and it should tell you the district

Hi Orinoco,

The district is Gorton

Ainsworth St ran parallel to Belle Vue St and in between Clowes St and Hyde Rd

Hope this helps

Gorton - it will have come down to make way for Pottery Lane.

This from the same wonderful map we were looking at on the Earl St posting! About 1960

Thanks, folks. Yes, that is more than likely the place. Grandfather's occupation is given as 'iron dresser' and I see an iron works in the vicinity.
Grateful for your efforts.
