Greetings all, 
Sorry to be so dense. I've tried to upload my crest into my profile and it won't let me do this. Does it have to be in a set format of something, it seems to accept the picture but then nothing happens. Please can you advise it's driving me crackers!!
Also not sure how to get my web page started it said go to this page and it was a firm saying you had to pay, please how do I get my web page started. 
I did email help but they told me to post here for all to see!!

Hello Lin,
Your're not being dense, they are very good questions!
No you don't have to pay for your free RootsChat webspace, don't worry.
The page that you see when you go to your website address is just a "holding page" showing you that there is infact a "space" there for a website. (It's difficult showing a space without some sort of page).
The space that is on there for you is 50Mb which is probably big enough for a website with perhaps ten thousand individuals on, or perhaps a moderately graphical site with hundreds of smaller images.
In a way, what you have been given is an "unfurnished house", and need to put some furniture in. Again the "furniture" (your webpages) are only limited really by your imagination.
I have installed "CMSimple" for a few people on here, just so that they can "get their feet wet" on building webpages. You might want me to do the same on your space? Another option is perhaps if you already use a family history software of some sort, you can have "phpGedview" installed in your webspace that will display your GEDcom file. Again, I can install that for you if you like.
As with everything on RootsChat, it's free.
Finally, another more usual aproach for building a website is to build a website on your own computer using software, then "upload" your website (using "FTP" and the login details you were sent by email after your registration).

Many thanks for your reply. Any help gratefully received. I've tried building a web page before but not with a lot of luck!!
If I could please have a dabble wwith the CMSimple coz the log in and password sounds complicated 
Have looked at my piccie and it is too many pixels too wide  Will have to have a tat.

I still haven't worked out how to do my webpage. Apparently I can do it using notebook is that correct?
Can't see the CMSimple thingy you were going to do so think I need an idiots guide
Have as you can see managed to get the picture sorted. Yahoo! I'm not completely thick.
