PETER MARSLAND AND FAMILY ON 1901 CENSUS
« on: Friday 27 July 07 22:30 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for any descendent's of a family living 2 Sykes St Hyde on the 1901 census as follows.

Peter Marsland 41railway  drayman born Bosley Cheshire
Elizabeth wife 34 Laundress Wash born Broxton?Buxton?
Sarah dau aged 8 born Hyde
Anne aged 6 born Hyde
Samuel aged 5 born Hyde
Ralph son aged 2 born Hyde
Dortha/Dorothy daug aged 1 born Hyde.

Peter was not married to Elizabeth on the 1891 census he was living with his widowed mother in Broomgove lane Haughton.

This is one of those dead ends one comes to in their tree search but I am hopeful that somewhere out in the large world of rootschat there might be a clue.

Hi Jane,

thank you for replying so quickly. If you have access to the census maybe you could look to see if Edwin the grandson who was born Conglton  on the 1891 census appears anywhere on the 1901 census. I have been unable to find any ref to Edwin he may have been desceased by 1901. Edwin was 11  named as grandson so I presume he was Peters first son from his previous marriage. It looks like I will have to get Peters birth cert as my next step in the puzzle because he appears to be born after my great great grandfather Samuel died and I believe Ann his mother remained a widow until her death. I do have buriel info for Samuel and Ann, Peter parents. I begin to wonder if maybe Peter was born from another relationship that Ann may have had or maybe he was a member of the extended family who was brought up with Ann, her son John (my greatgrandfather) and siblings.

Thanks again for replying,  my searching is a little difficult as I live so far away in Australia.
