death of Nellie thorpe (was Esgate)

Nellie Esgate was born in Jan/Feb/Marh 1888 (cert. 3b 599)and married Edward thorpe in 1909.

He appears to have died in Stamford  in 1918 (Cert 7a 817), but I don't know why he was away from his family or why he died so young.

I have tried to trace the death of Nellie Esgate, and its just occurred to me that she could have remarried!  Any suggestions?
