Anyone have any idea where I can find lair registers for Muiravonside burials?
Supposing I find them what information would they give?

Hi ccr,

It would all depend on whether it was burials in the Churchyard or the Cemetery.

The Cemetery (from memory) was established round about 1880 and all the information can be got from the Cemetery Records Office in Dorrator Road, Camelon, Falkirk.

The Churchyard is obviously a different kettle of fish! I don't know if there are Burial Records available at the Archives but I do know that MI's were transcribed in the late 60's, early 70's and were pulished in the Pre-1855 MI Book for East Stirlinghshire. There's a few Rootchatters have this publcation, so why not post some details of who you're looking for and we'll see if we can help you out.

It's the churchyard. I have the MIs for E. Stirlingshire and the pre 1855 burial records but on the MIs of the grave I am interested in there is a date 1832 and no matching record in the burials so I wondered if the lairs might give me any info. I've looked through all the info I have but can't find the relvant names anywhere at all.
Thanks for your advice. Do you think Falkirk Archives or Callendar would help?
Another question Anne, in the Scottish Archives I have come across 3 court cases involving ancestors, dated early 1800s. Do you know how I could find someone to find out what they are? I'm in Wales and even if I come up I don't think I would have the expertise to decipher them.

Have a wee look at the following link - it shows that Falkirk Archives do have more info:

http://www.falkirk.gov.uk/services/community/cultural_services/museums/archives/finding_aids/PDFs/cemeteries.pdf

and this one:

http://www.falkirk.gov.uk/services/community/cultural_services/museums/archives/finding_aids/PDFs/falkirk/falkirk_police_court.pdf

I'm not familiar with some of the terminology used in the second link but maybe a wee e-mail to the Archives?
