Ok, so I have my free webspace and my copy of"Creating webpages forDummies".  I have a htm computer file that opens and does what it's supposed to in my web browser.
So I go to
http://www.rootschat.net/cgi-bin/amanager.cgi
and log in, enter  file manager and delete the index.html as instructed.
Now how do I upload my files  and where?

On the right is a set of input boxes titled upload.

Click on the browse button next to the box select your index.htm file using the directory listing and then click the upload button.

Alternately go to the section of your book covering FTP clients and use that method to upload your files

You can upload small number of files at the file manager page that you refer to above.


I'm using Windows XP Home. After creating web pages with my desktop publishing package, I right-clicked on the folder they are stored in on my desktop. Scrolled down the menu, and found 'Send to... Web Publishing Wizard' option. Once I entered the website address and password, it uploaded the files for me.

Thankyou  both.
My problem was that I hadn't called my file index. Roll Eyes So was just  getting 404 error messages when I looked for it.

Well done on your website written from scratch! Your gold cube images will appear if you get rid of the part "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\webpage\" in the
<img src="C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\webpage\goldcube.gif"> bits. (and all similar image references) Smiley
The page will appear on your machine, but we can't see your images. I've done the same thing lots of times!

It may be worth you checking your <body>and </body> tags:

<body>
<body bgcolor="FFEBCD">

(get rid of the first one)

and then at the end (after </html>) making sure you have a </body>
