My mother was born in 1832 in Leicester. I have only recently discovered that the person I thought was my grandfather had died 5 years earlier. Problems genealogy causes?
The only info I have is a name Robert Day, an address in Leicester. I know he had a brother Phil and a sister Gwen.
I had seen a Day born in Hitchin, with probable children of these names. (Maiden name Rose?)

Welcome to Rootschat!
Can you look again at your mother's date of birth? 1832 seems highly unlikely!
To clarify, you're looking for information on Robert Day, who you thought was your grandfather? Any idea about date of birth, spouse's name etc?
Where did you find the info re Day in Hitchin? Whose maiden name was ?Rose?
I have a problem when writing things down in that I write it as if everyone else was party to what's going on in my brain. Rootschatters are excellent at helping as I've discovered - but only as good as the information they're given!

Sorry I have just re-read my original. I can see it does not make a lot of sense!
Robert Day would be my grandfather. My grandmother was Winifred Boys b. 1900. They were not married. He was a neighbour! They lived in Linwood Lane, Leicester in 1931.

Greeting’s & welcome Jo Mc.
Seeing the years are 1930’s Then we don’t have the Census returns to help ….So.. It will be down to obtaining very basic information you can find out via “ Electoral Rolls “ starting from Linwood Lane on the Saffron Estate. These Rolls are held at the Records Office in Wigston. Either in book form or on fiches for the Wards which Linwood Lane came under.

Thanks Mike, I have never been to the Records Office. I didn't realise that the Electoral Registers were 'open@ information. I will try that to establish the family.
