Helllllppppp!!!!!!! I have tried the Ancestry Census index for this and the Scotlandspeople site and I cannot find these people. Andrew Stevenson b. Airdrie 1813 farmer Charlotte (wife) b. Muiravonside Marion b 1835 Agnes 1833. Andrew b 1839 I've tried soundex and different spellings but cannot trace them. Have tried in Stirling records and West Lothian. There they are in 1851 but were they abducted in 41? One member absent I can understand but all of them? Grateful for any help.

Think I've found them at ancestry though it took some digging. You will see from the spelling why you had problems.
1841 Drumbrother, Muiravonside, Stirlingshire
Andrew Stiviston 26 Farmer Charlot Stiviston 36 Marcy Stiviston 6 Arderw Stiviston 2 Andrw Stiviston 50 Ag Lab Margeret Bowie 20 George McGillian 14 Hellen Randal 12
Aside from the strange spelling of Stevenson each of the 3 Andrew's is spelt differently. Agnes must have died because I note there was a later Agnes in 1851 Census (think she was 9).

Hi ccr,
According to the British Vital Records: (All Muiravonside)
STEVENSON, Agnes born 15 Aug 1841, christened 12 Sep 1841 Parents: Andrew STEVENSON and Janet NIMMO
STEVENSON, Mary, born 23 Jul 1843, christened 13 Aug 1843 Parents: Andrew STEVENSON and Charlotte NIMMO
STEVENSON, Cornelius, born 24 Apr 1845, christened 25 May 1845 Parents: Andrew STEVENSON and Charlotte NIMMO
STEVENSON, Janet, born 23 Feb 1847, christened 21 Mar 1847 Parents: Andrew STEVENSON and Charlotte NIMMO
STEVENSON, Jean, born 19 Jun 1849, christened 22 Jul 1849 Parents: Andrew STEVENSON and Charlotte NIMMO
Two familes in Muiravonside, same names, roughly at the same time . . . . . what's the chances?
Anne

I meant to say -
I think "Drumbrother' Farm found by Annette will possibly be a mis-transcription of DRUMBROIDER Farm.
If it is, then the farm is still there and is now a saddlery - it's only five minutes along the road from Muiravonside.
I had a wee look to see if I could find any photos of it but there don't appear to be any. Maybe if you got in touch with the owners, they might have something?
CENTRAL SADDLERY, Drumbroider Farm Avonbridge, STIRLINGSHIRE FK1 2HN, Scotland
Tel: 0044 1324 861229
Anne
Just discovered they have a web-site (no pictures) but there's an e-mail address:

In reply to both your posts Anne :The "2" families are one and the same. Charlotte Nimmo and Andrew Stevenson were my great great grandparents. Their daughter Janet was my great grandmother. The family later moved to Whiterigg farm. (is that still there ?) Charlotte drowned in a barrel of water in her seventies, her son Andrew hanged himself in a barn in 1890s. Janet married John Bryce and they eventually lived in South Brae Maddiston. I used to visit Maddiston and Laurieston every summer and stay with my grandmother. I wish now that I had asked more questions, but then don't we all! Many thanks for your help. I will certainly contact the farm and see if they have any photos, what a brill idea! What are British Vital Records Anne? CCR

British Vital Records is a CD version of IGI. You can buy the set from LDS for around twenty pounds (last time I looked anyway!)
I Googled Whiterigg Farm and found:
http://www.touchlocal.com/nat/c-764-t-8883-Mixed+Farming-Falkirk
R Taylor , Whiterigg Farm, Maddiston, FALKIRK, Stirlingshire, FK2 0BX
It seems it still there too.
It's always the same, it's not until you venture into the realms of family or local history that you wish you'd asked questions of your elders. Either that, or it's just a sign of getting old!!
Anne.
P.S. Was it you I sent photos of Bryce stone in Muiravonside a wee while ago?

yes it was me. I came up there in February and had a little wander around. found some other ancestors in Polmont churchyard and of course my grandmother and Bryce and Donaldson great grandparents in Muiravonside cemetery. I'm going to contact Falkirk and see if they can tell me where the Stevensons are. I hope I thanked you for the photos, but thanks again Anne. CCR

Hi CRR
I have been having a wee look through my husbands family tree and it turns out that Andrew Stevenson and Charlotte Nimmo are his GGGgrandparents.
I haven't done an awful lot on his side of the family, but have been in contact with two other descendents and have a good bit of information on the Nimmo side of things.
Andrew and Charlottes daughter Jean (Jane) was married to an Andrew Baird, their son John Baird married Elizabeth McNab and their son Thomas Baird married Janet Allardice, their daughter Elizabeth Baird is my mother in law.
Our family live in the Whitecross area, although we live in Falkirk.
Would be great to hear from you.
Gillian

Hi CCR,
I am working on a family tree of the Muiravonside Bryces and see here that you are of the Janet Stevenson John Bell Bryce line. That is a family group that I do not have much information on - essentially 11 children, years of birth and some dates of death. Very little otherwise. I do have more information on other parts of the family, not sure how much would be new to you. Would love to compare notes. Drop me a line if you like.
Thanks Katherine

Hi there,
The Charlotte Nimmo I have that married Andrew Stevenson was born in 1805.
I haven;t been doing a lot of family research into this side as my mother in law passed away last October, so it's been quite hard to get into it.
Would be great to hear from you.
**CCR did I send you the photographs of the Nimmo memorials?**
