william scott born 1801 waltham?
« on: Wednesday 01 August 07 19:56 BST (UK) »

on the 1841 census he is in Bridge with his wife and children .
it just gives his birth place as Kent .
but in the Elmsted parish records where he was married it states he was a bachelor from Waltham .
i have tried to find his birth  or baptism but with no luck and wondered if anyone else would have better luck

Hi Debz

Welcome to Rootschat

Might it help us to know which sources/parish registers etc. you have already searched looking for William's baptism?

Is there anything significant in the names of the witnesses to his marriage ie. could any of them be relatives?

Does his given age at death/burial tie in the a birth c1901 or is this age taken from the 1841 census where ages are often rounded down 5 years ie. age 40 could mean age 40-44?  Can we assume that he was deceased by 1851 when a more precise birthplace may have been given in the census?

oops i'm sorry  i did'nt make things very clear  Embarrassed I'm always the same its clear in my head just gobledy gook on paper lol.
ok here goes
i have thomas on the 41 census as being 40 a ag lab from kent
in the elmsted parish records i found the banns and the marriage of william scott a bachelor of waltham and jane norris a spinster of elmsted no ages given just parents consent  that was 15 /12 1824
the witnesses are a mary ann scott and a stephen hawkes? very unsure on his surname as its not very clear .
next thing i have is william and janes death certs jane having passed away first on the 29/8/1846 in bridge age given at death 42.
then william  died on the 22/5/1847 in bridge age given at death 49 the witness  was a charlotte rye in attendance .
i have searched the waltham parish records for his birth but i have not noticed it .
so i'm not sure if he was born in waltham or iI'mjust missing it when i have searched for him
