Lost my volume icon.Help please

My volume icon has disappeared from the bottom right hand corner.
Have done nothing different for this to happen.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to restore.

Have gone on to My Computer,sounds etc, but nothing. Huh

Hi Bennett

If you go to control panel:
Sounds & Audio devices:
on the Volume Tab:
make sure that you have ticked
“Place Volume Icon in the task bar”
click Apply
then OK

Thanks for that,but I have tried that also,
it is already ticked,but I tested it out,on/off etc,
but noticed the apply button is not highlighted.
This is baffling me as to why.
Appreciate a bit more help on this. Cry

Do you mean the icon is located in your System Tray next to the clock rather than the Task Bar?

Possibly it needs to launch itself at boot time when you start the computer.

Check in msconfig whether it has been unchecked:

Start >> Run and type: msconfig
Click on the Startup tab and see whether a process has been unchecked that is associated with your volume control.  If so check it.

The other thing to check is your Task Bar and Start Menu options.
Right click the Taskbar and select Properties.
The click on Customise.
Have a look to see if the Volume Control is in Past Items.
If so, restore it.

the icon used to be beside the clock,but has disappeared.
I have just done what you have suggested,everything appears
as checked,although I dont understand half of what it says  Roll Eyes
I must be doing something wrong, but I cant think what.
I can usually get the gist of some of the technicalities,
this is really bugging me.

Just tried and right clicked Taskbar,then Properties,then Customise,
does not have anything listed as Past Items at all.
