Dear Rootschatters,
Have had some very good information since joining and have also been able to help.
Below is a question that has caused some problems among decendents that I hope Rootschatters can help to resolve.
Robert Scott born about 1779 Mordington & bapt. 10/7/1779 Channelkirk, parents ? Robert Scott about 1759-1810 and Margaret Haggerston about 1761-1810, no birth/bapt. found on "scotlandspeople".
Robert died Reston, Coldingham 23/2/1860, married, Ag.Lab. parents as above, buried Coldingham, Witness Alexander Scott son (per death Cert.).
Catherine died Reston,Coldingham 1/3/1860, widow of Ag.Lab. buried Coldingham, parents Alexander Aitchison & Margaret Johnston, Witness Alexander Scott son (per death cert.).
No M.I. found in the pre 1855 M.I.'s for Coldingham done 1969, for Robert & Catherine, no other record made as far as I know since.
According to IGI and some people, Robert's parents were Thomas Scott & Nelly Grieve, this is disputed.
Hope that some kind people can show some light on the matter.

Hi Becky,
You have done a remarkable amount of 'looking up' etc for other people and I am sure others will be delighted to try to help you out with your problems.
I haven't any credits on SP at the moment but did a free search and found a Robert Scot, 6 Nov 1756, Channelkirk. I don't know if you have already looked at this one or not. Not sure which Robert you are searching for though or is it only Margaret Haggerston that you are looking for? The only one I have found on my quick search is submitted on the LDS

Thanks for having a go, they are not the ones that I have found. The only thing that I so far know is that and that is off IGI.
There was a Robert Scott b.ca. 1759 West Ord and a Margaret Haggerston b.ca. 1763 Tweedmouth.
There are 4 children Helen b.1785 B.on T. and William b.1787 B.onT. Ralph b.1783 Edrom and Robert b.ca. 1779 Mordington.
Am hoping that someone might find Robert's details somewhere, but am assured that Roberts's parents are correct, I would just like to know for myself, if necessary I might have to go to Borders FHS, they are pretty good even though you have to pay.
My wife's maternal line decends from Robert Scott & Catherine Aitchison, that is why I am interested

Ralph Scott Birth Edrom.
Whitelaw, 2/4/1783, Robert Scott Hind & Margaret Haggerston his wife had a son born named Ralph and baptised 25th instant before the Relief Congregation at Dunse.
